Bildungschancen
in Benin

We support schools and education for deaf children in Benin so they learn sign language and experience respect and community.

Kinder sitzen mit ihrem Lehrer um einen Tisch, reden und spielen.

Situation

Schools for deaf children cost money. The contributions of the families are often not enough. There is hardly any state support

Our conviction

Children must not bear the burden of these structural problems. Education must be accessible to all.

Our aim

Deaf children learn sign language. They experience recognition and community. Education opens up opportunities for participation and self-determination.

Who we are

We want to contribute our share to social change and development. Our association supports educational opportunities for deaf children, children with disabilities and other children and youth in difficult situations in Benin. Among our members are scholars who have worked on being deaf, intellectual disability, artistic and political representation of people with disabilities in Benin, Kenya, Tanzania, Mali, Angola, Uganda and Germany.

Through field research and work in Benin we know our project partners in person and build on a long-term, trusting and responsible cooperation.
